PARIS: THE FRANCOPHILE IN ME

By: Liz Bernardo

What is a Francophile? According to Wikipedia, a Francophile is a person who has a strong affinity towards the French language, French history, French culture or French people. As for me, I must admit that I am a Francophile and I fell in love with Paris long before I was able to visit the city.

Having worked in the food/pastry industry for a long time, I’ve always been on the lookout for new developments as far as desserts are concerned. I’ve also taken three semesters of language when I was in college, and I am now continuing my education and hopefully be conversational someday. Having said enough, I think by now you already how much I love anything French.

I love the cafΓ© culture they have, where you can just sit and watch the world go by in front of you. I admire how properly and fashionably dressed the French people are too. The amazing architecture is hands down one the best I’ve seen and the art galleries, especially the Louvre, is phenomenal. Their train system or the Metro is so convenient to use and is a very cheap way to get around the city. And last but definitely not the least, the food is to die for and the quality of their pastries in general are, well, outstanding and above anything I’ve ever tasted and seen.

Maybe I am biased, but see for yourself when you go and visit. I’m pretty sure you will have the same feeling as I have and would want to come back over and over again!
